New SS to me

Hello everyone, I am Scott and new to the forum. I just picked up my first Shopsmith 510. I have wanted one since I saw the demo at the fair when I was 8. I just turned 40 so a 32 year wait was worth it.
I picked up a 510 on Craigslist for only $175. I was used a few times and has been sitting ever since. It was purchased at the MN state fair in 98. It runs and looks great. I can't wait to start using it. The only pieces missing I can tell is the push stick, goggles and the lathe Drive center.

Ahhh don't turn the speed control when it's not running!
I know... I did... it co$t me. it's natural to wanna fiddle with your new toy.

So that is where that one went.
I was watching it, but I don't really need another one. I had mentioned it to my father as he had watched the demo every year at the State Fair too. Heck of a deal and looks like the seller dropped the price quite a bit more than the listing. It had been hanging around a lot longer than I would have thought.
Congratulations on your good deal, you should have a lot of fun with it and the missing pieces shouldn't set you back.

I really wasn't looking that hard to get one, but the price was too good to pass up. My wife was not too happy at first but now wants to start turning some wood. I think we will start with some pens!

May I suggest the your wife look up a local woodturning chapter, so that she can lean how to safely learn to turn.

Missing drive center is easy to 'fix'.
I be interested what the extra thingie is. The curved aluminum thing with black shaft and 'wheels' on each end.

I've not seen the two smaller wrenches before. Shopsmith?

Might be a case of here are a few things that belong which actually don't. Dusty - the "thing with two wheels" looks like a hold down. I believe one side looks like an adjusting knob and the other side the hold down. There is a bar next two it, maybe it goes with it?

What a find !
At that price, you could ugrade it to a 520. I did and the new fence is very well worth it.

Thanks guys for the replies. Letterk is right, its some type of hold down(just have to figure it out). I have a Ridgid tablesaw so I don't think I will get the 520 upgrade. But I am thinking about a bandsaw.
