They come around less frequently, but still are around. A bit more limited in features and quality of build.

Here's a link to a discussion here about the Mark 2. Locally two showed up on Craigslist today, one for $50 and one for $100.

I bought one out of curiosity last year for cheap. Was a total waste of money,
other than the learning experience from taking it all apart and seeing how cheaply they were made.

Have no mercy? That bad? Not a Mk2 but look at this seller of a Mk5:
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/tls/3307004746.html

Reads: Up for sale is an almost functioning shopsmith mark V. Motor runs and has brand new belts. Needs the dial that controls the speed ($10 on EBay). I don't need it and want it gone. Come get it today or I will saw it in half and give it to the scrappers. Call Mike at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Where is the drive hub that comes out of serial number plate? It looks like cover is loose and missing screws, but shouldn't there be a shaft even if the hub is missing? Yes, $10 and it will be right back to running. :D

Looks like the cover is pulled back enough to hide the lower shaft.
