Good deal, I think

Post by swampgator »

Wish I could afford this. I think it's a really good price. Have chatted with the man and he's a good person and seller.

While it is used, it is somewhat cheaper than new. While at Lowe's for the SS demo and sale, the upgrade package for me was $1182 + shipping costs.

You have chatted with him and he's a good person and a good seller? Really? So was Bernie Madoff. Before you ever make a decision in buying from someone you don't know do your homework. This could be a good deal if the headstock was included but is way over priced even if shipping was included. Sounds as if you are dealing with the Bernie Badoff on eBay.

I helped a friend buy a 510 a few months ago without the extension tubes and tables and no extension table (which he bought on eBay separately for $50 shipping included (total cost for his was $300). Yes the saw guards were included. By the way, the Craigslist owner wanted $550 initially and then dropped the price after two months to $500 and it was sold for $250. Don't be in a hurry. Shop around. If You Know Who is re-elected you will need all your extra cash.

Perhaps I didn't make it clear. This is only for the tables, rails, upper and lower saw guards, one arbor, one mitre and one carriage which would bring my 500 up to a 520. If I were to order this same kit from SS, it would cost at least $1200 plus shipping. So, yes, in that comparison which I made, it is a good deal. Now, if he were going to seel the entire machine that way, it would be a super deal. But, if you look around, you'll see 500's and 510's for much more that what he's asking for the table upgrade system. But, since I can't afford it, I thought someone else may. This is the first 520 table system I've seen on any place for sale outside of Shopsmith. Believe me, if I could afford it, it would be in my garage now. Sorry, that I didn't make it clear in my original post. :D
