Old Shopsmith 10ER

Post by jallenaz »

I've got this old ShopSmith that was my grandfathers. It's a model 10ER, serial number 73806. I've had it kicking around for a long time and never use it. The motor needs work. Probably not much, but it used to be in a damp basement and was always giving me trouble starting it. It's in Arizona now where it's nice and dry. But I still haven't had it running in awhile. Does anyone think it is worth much? I doubt I'll ever get it going again. Maybe someone would like to come and take it.

They very in price, I do not see anything really special with yours, No speedchanger or ans of the A or B adaptors that really bring the money. I collect these and rebuild them. I try to get them to looking as good as they did when they were new and then get with someone interested in getting started in wood working and show they what they will do. I can tell you it will make one of the best drill presses you can get if you do nothing else with it.
If you are close enough I know someone will want to take it and fix it up. I am in Tuls Ok but not sure where you are.
I say keep it and make a drill press if noting else.
 :)

Not sure where in Arizona you may be located, but if you check Craigs List in Phoenix you can get an idea...the ones on there now have been there for awhile.

I didn't think it would be worth much. I would like to just get it out of my garage. I don't want to move it any more.

What part of this warm, (currently cold) state do you live in?

I'm in Mesa, and am interested.

I'd come to get it and take it off your hands but I got no room for more. It looks like it would be a beautiful starter for someone interested in putting it back into service.

It wouldn't take much to get it running. That's if the motor doesn't need much help. If I had a decent stand for it that would roll I might not dislike it so. But I've dragged it around enough.

Anyone have a good solution for making a rolling stand for one? If I keep looking at pictures of reconditioned shopsmiths I might want to try it. But I don't really have time or room for it.
