Dust collector motor

Post by rdewinter »

I have been using a DC3300 for several years. Recently the motor only hummed when I turned it on. Last week I disassembled the DC3300 and cleaned all the fine dust from around the motor. The motor shaft did not turn unless i started it with my hand. I finally sprayed some dry silicon on the shaft and let it run down the motor shaft and the motor ran very well, until today. The motor started humming and did not run. After trying a couple of times the humming stopped. Did I burn out the motor? Suggestions for fixing would be appreciated.
Is there a better alternative than the DC3300 (within a reasonable price range)?
