Look what followed me home today. I seem to be the only one here who didn't have a 10ER and I felt left out. I'm not going to do a full restore, just clean it up a bit and use it as a drill press. I'm going to build a special stand so I can fit it in my half of the garage along with my 520 and 500 shorty by keeping it in the vertical position.

Can you cut the wood stand in half and make it a 10ER Shorty?fredsheldon wrote:

Do you mean just cut the legs off the base and tip the whole thing, stand included, to the vertical and attach the legless base to the wall without tilting it.

You are not the only one on here who did not have one Sheldon. I don't have a 10ER either. I've come across one or two here and there on Craig's List and EBay. However between the 510, Mark VI and all my other shop stuff, I really just don't have the room. Plus, I really don't need to be adding any more projects to my list before I get some already waiting in the wings completed. Nice find though.

No 10 ER here. Would like one but until I can rearrange the garage to have one and still park my wife's car in the garage, AND is cost is low enough, it isn't going to happen.
SWMBO only has 3 rules regarding my shop.
My Car gets parked inside EVERY NIGHT!
There will be minimal dust accumulation.
There will be NO dust migration into the house!!
So far by opening ,the garage door, using a large fan and my shop vac the dust issues have been minimized. Now I just need to reorganize yet again!
Maybe someday.

And today a new 10ER is reborn. Decided to do a full restore and glad I did, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I made a dedicated drill press out of it by cutting the original bench stand in 1/2. It still works in the horizontal position I just don't have much room.
