Shaper Fence ??

Post by tred1956 »

Hi fellows.
Its's Me AGAIN. Just bought a used shaper fence and cannot find parts list on SS site. Can anyone provide a link to parts list and tell me whats missing? I thought it was a knob just like the one on other side but, there is no raised groove for the slot to run in. Pic below I hope.

Thanks as always and Merry Christmas

I believe for a Model 500, you have nothing missing by your arrow. In fact your fence is rather well-equipped, having the red "guard" safety-upgrade that earlier 500 fences did not.

I think the model 510/520 added the 2nd knob because the fence as a whole is a little less easy to re-position on the table than the 500's fence is.

I'm not certain that anything is missing. I don't own this particular model fence but I have a document that may answer your questions.

The fence is complete. The newer model have a knob on both infeed and outfeed. The shaper arbor is missing one rub collar, the second from smallest. I also do not see the shaper insert with dust collection and starting pins.

This page has the inserts with start pins and this page for the dust collection.

I believe it is a Mark V 500. The serial # is 101906. Still curious about installation and use instructions of shaper fence.

Saw another $50.00 10 ER on one of the Michigan craigslist.:D Wish it were in SC.

Thanks

The 500 shaper fence clamps to the front and rear of the table. You might review this to familiarize yourself with the shaping operations on the Mark V.

Isn't positioning and use of shaper fence covered in Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone? It's been a long time since I pulled out my shaper fence and used it but that's where I'd start for a how-to reminder on installing it.
