Restoring my 55' Greenie

I am restoring my 55' Greenie.
I've got my questions:
1. My belt is a "4L260", it outer width is 29/64", length is 26 1/4". Is it still good to keep? or buy a new one.
2. Is the "substitute" still not that good than the one from SS?

29/32 is a bit 'skinny', but not ready for the trash can.
The length will affect the speed range.
Belt 'length' is usually a 'mean' dimension, not an 'od' length.
IIWM, I would get a replacement from SS. I know of no direct replacement currently readily available. For a while SS had procurement problems, and tried an alternative belt with disastrous results.
OK to use the existing belt, but it will not allow the speed control to behave as its design intended.
Thanks for the quick response

It needs to be close to 9/16" wide. That is the major reason no 'after market' automotive belts are acceptable(that and the length). I am not recalling if it should be 25.5 or 26.5 in.

Belt should also be 26.5. 4L265 , I'm running a 4L260 but not sure how many Rpm I'm losing.

Is it really, really important that the top rpm is less than what is advertised (5200rpm). How often do we operate at that speed?
Speed doesn't matter

It the RPM doesn't matter, I don't what kind of disastrous results of the alternative belt has caused.

Disastrous is really something of an overstatement. You can read all about it
here.

"Disastrous" in that it was a totally unacceptable substitution and caused problems for several owners.
The Quadrant assembly is too damaged?

The Quadrant doesn't look good. Should I fix or replace it?
Also the "ring" came loose.
Can I re-use the ring? or I have to buy a new one?
