I am starting a shop in a 12ftx12ft building instead of the shop I had before.Does any one know what is the best way to modify the ss so it will work better in this tiny shop I have.

Remember that when you cut down the length of the tubes you reduce the drill press capacity, the lathe capacity and the length of support by the extension tables.
If you still want table saw functionality, you must maintain room for the carriage. Don't over look the table tilt. If you cut too much, even if you have room for the carriage, the table can be obstructed (effecting table movement).
I cut only 16" (was 14") off to make my shorty and, in my opinion, it is just barely long enough to be considered a full function Mark V.
Fourteen inches doesn't seem like much but when operating in limited space that 14" makes a big difference.
PS: Not that it matters a great deal but I must set the record straight. I came across the tube cutoffs today and measured them. I actually removed 16" from the tubes (not the previously reported 14").
