Paint - Nearly Perfect Match

Buy a can of Shopsmith paint (505706 Gray 12oz Spray Can (before 10-01-2001) $11.54 plus shipping) and it won't be a perfect match but close. Buy a can of this primer for <$4 at Home Depot and it will be a closer match. After it has dried thoroughly topcoat it with a clear coat, either matte or Satin and you have saved money and time.

Pictures are of the primer against the original Shopsmith paint.

That's funny - I bought some cans of (I think it was) Krylon self-etching primer at Harbor Freight and primed my carriage, after which I painted it with the SS touch-up spray paint and while I haven't had a chance to go out and compare the newly painted carriage to the components that still have the original paint, but I was surprised to see how closely the primer matched the SS paint (other than the primer is flat and the SS paint seems to be a semi-gloss).

I was confused on the date until I looked it up. I thought the paint might be a little old.

What are the two pictures we are looking at?

One is a picture of wood with primer on it against the legs of the SS (originnal paint); the other is of pvc pipe painted on the right side held against the same leg. The match is actually much closer than the pictures show because of reflection, etc. Probably if I had sprayed some primer on the SS you would have only seen the difference in the flatness of the primer vs. the semi-gloss on the SS.
