Broke my caster aluminum

Post by cllib »

I was not patient enough to follow JPG's advice to dry fit my caster.
I ended up broke one of the aluminum when drove a pin.

I steel rod and aluminum were not aligned.

Lesson learned.

I used JB Weld to temporarily hold it. If it breaks I will buy another one.

I broke one of these pedals on my last 10ER restore. Fortunately, the current ones use the same pedal. It was under $12, delivered, and the guy I talked to said they had plenty in stock.

No, not eBay. I called Shopsmith Inc. at 800.543.7586 and they were able to find and get me the part. It is called the retractable caster pedal.

I be guessing the tie rod/end casting are the relevant parts, not the pedal.
