Crown staple or nails

Post by farley »

I have both a crown and a straight nailer that works with my compressor. What is the difference? The crown will leave a bigger hole and it look like it would be stronger.
Just need some basic info. These items were given to me along with different size staples and nail.

Both guns work and I download the manuals.

What guage? 18? If you are talking 18 ga. the staple will leave a dent only as large as the staple - easy to fill. But not as easy as the brad. Yes sometimes staples will follow the grain and result in a stronger twisted binding. However usually they are used only to hold a joint while glue dries.
