Today in the shop (checking main table in drill press mode)

Post by reible »

I was setting up to do some drilling today and thought I'd do a quick check to see if my main table was still ready for use in drilling operations.

The legs on the table had been replaced with the dual tilt upgrade and I had not gone back to check how things looked after the work that was done.

Step one is to make sure all the locks are locked, the table is tipped so it is against the stops and locked in place.

I started with a know straight 1/2" drill bit chucked up. I pulled out the table insert and took off the lower shield. I then check using my square as shown.

I didn't expect any issues and there were none.

Next I checked the other axis, again things are right on.

So no changes required for the leg swap, well at least in my case.

Keep in mind you can not use the table insert as a reference surface, best to just get it out of the way.
