"comes with Ban Saw, Table Saw, Leigh, Drill Press, Danto Blades"

Where's the picture of Leigh? And is she cute?
And what the heck is a "danto" blade?
It also bugs me when I see ads saying the Shopsmith "comes with" a table saw, or drill press, or lathe (or "lay" or "leigh" - never seen that last one before!). No, it doesn't "come with" those things. It IS those things.

The laughable terms and even more laughable price make me think the clueless seller is really just trying to flip it. Hell, I'm not a woodworker in any sense of the word, but I at least know the basic terminology and enough to know he will never sell that for even 1/3rd his asking price. What kind of condition would you guess it's in with this kind of seller.
I've commented on the issue before...the seller is in VA Beach and when I lived south of there in Eastern NC this was a completely normal ad for the region. I'm not saying it ever sells for that, but $2,000 to $2,500 for an older Mark V with no goodies was very common. Perpetually relisted of course, but you NEVER saw one for under $1,000. I had my eye out for 3 years, and jumped on the ER when it came up for $100.joshh wrote:The laughable terms and even more laughable price make me think the clueless seller is really just trying to flip it. Craigslist is a little warped out there. There were definitely certain items that had a lot of ads that got under your skin. ShopSmith was one of them, another big one was Harleys...selling 5 to 10 year old stock models for the same as new. Another was Lincoln AC225 arc welders selling for $100 over new because they had 2 cheap welding rods with it. And yet another was any large equipment that went on sale at Harbor Freight, especially engine cranes and stands, when they went on sale a bunch would pop up on CL priced between sale price and regular price. All "only used once." Everyone did it, maybe a case of horrible groupthink. When I moved to Missouri it was a pleasant surprise to not deal with that any more.
