Speed Control
As I Mentioned In April , I Was Having Problems With The Speed Control On My Shopsmith. I Acquired It From A Friend Of Mine, And Knowing It Had Sat A While I Lubricated The Sheaves With Oil. When Cutting Some 2x4's On High Speed I Tripped A Breaker. After Resetting The Breaker, Finished Cutting. Now The Speed Is Stuck In High Gear , And The Speed Control Spins Freely. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated. P.s. Bear With Me ,because I Am New To Woodworking And The Shopsmith In General. Thanks

There is an access hole on the side of the speed controller which is used to insert an allen wrench to tighten the set screw which holds the controller to the shaft. That might be loose. You will need a small flashlight and a long allen wrench to see and access the set screw.

A 3/32" allen is needed to loosen the set screw in the speed control handle. I have to grind the tip of my allen wrench to remove rounded edges after using it tighten the set screw a few times. It rounds off real easly and will damage the set screw hole when it is rounded.
