Today in the shop (red chest plug)

Post by reible »

I know some of you have the old shopsmith red cabinets in your shop. While this is not a big issue it was one of those things I wanted to get at for the last year or so.

I tried to convince myself that I could live with the missing plug, heck it even made a place to store a pencil.....

But more often then not it worked as a nice hole to let saw dust and chips in the drawer below. Last Sunday I went to a sale at our local American Science and Surplus store and spotted these plugs that I thought might work to fill the hole.

By marking the distance above the top I was able to use a cable cutter to do a nice job of chopping the plug off. Looked good enough to me.

Turned out I didn't even have to spend the $.15 ea that is the normal price, they were on sale for $.05 ea. What a bargain and now I happy for all the right reasons.

Gotta love it when it's easy.
