OFT for 510

Thanks to Dusty and Claimdude, I now have an OFT for my 510. The OFT is based on Dusty's general design, but his aluminum angle attachment brackets (for a 520) had to be reconfigured to work on my 510. I could not use the open slots to attach to the rails. Instead, I used a closed circle in the attachment bracket, which is a bit more complicated to use, but it does work.

Here are some images.
Basic construction of attachment system:

Special parts I had to make (thanks, claimdude, for the ideas for the bearing and the turned piece that connects the support tube to the OFT):

My plan is to wax the surface of the OFT. Anything wrong with that?

Thanks to all who contribute to this forum. The forum is a great source for beginners like myself.

If anyone wants aluminum angle brackets for a 520 OFT, they are yours for the postage!

Hank

I hope that you are as satisfied with having an OFT as I have been. I don't care what sort of support one uses, I just believe that having one greatly improves general performance and safety.

Outstanding Hank!! I like your bearing mount set up better than mine. You will absolutely love using it.

I agree. I sure thought that all of the images were available, but that is not the case, and I have deleted the images from my PC so I cannot correct my mistake. My apologies. Hank
