I was cutting some 2-1/4" thick turning blanks and using a 1/8" x 12TPI blade. I figured it would work, but didn't. I learned $$ to always use the proper blade. The blade bowed in the cut and jammed. When I turned off the bandsaw, the hot blade melted the urethane tires. Now I have to replace the tires and the blade. The blade is welded to the tires and I had to break the blade to get the tires off. New tires are on order, and I ordered several new 3 & 4 TPI blades from Suffolk.
Finally, this was my own fault. I was using the blade for something I KNEW wasn't optimal. Bottom line; Use the correct blade for the task you are doing!

Yep you used the wrong size blade. I think I wood have used a half inch blade. OH WELL, live and learn.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Yes, I had to replace the urethane tires several times for customers where the blade got too hot and melted into the tire. I am currently using the Blue MAX bandsaw tires with a lifetime warranty from an Ebay seller (talk to Gary) These tires come with an installation tool and are the easiest tires I have installed. I believe these tires will take the hot bandsaw blade much better than the urethane tires. The original black bandsaw tires do not have this problem. This is a strong recommendation from me when I see a better product.

Bill; The new tires arrived and the replacement blades too! I am "cooking" the tires now. After a few more minutes I will have them both on. I've never had a difficult time putting these on, but I will check out the Blue max tires. Thanks for the heads up.
OK; Everything done and the bandsaw is working again. With the proper blade installed, I zipped thru the same cuts with nary a whimper from the blade and the blade is cool as a cucumber.
