I clicked the last link in post #6 to view the YouTube video; very innovative machine by the way! After that I'm not sure what happened
. I emerged from a YouTube surfing induced trance 30 minutes later and found myself mesmerised by this amazing Marble Machine:

It's amazing to me for three reasons - the builder's creativeness, his engineering prowess and his patience. He says he hand cut all the pieces. It looks like it to me - no dark brown or black edges to indicate LASER cutting like a lot of this type of art has incorporated. Just amazing! There are a great deal more videos of some very innovative machines made from wood - some useful, some not so useful. There are a few out there of a table top that opens up and raises expansion leaves from underneath as you rotate the table - genius!
