In your experience, is the SS resaw blade the best, or are there better ones?

Putting aside other brands, Shopsmith sells two different resaw blades, a 5/8 inch carbon steel http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... blades.htm and a 1/2 inch "premium silicon carbon steel" http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... blades.htm, so you need to specify which SS resaw blade.

I have only used the 5/8 blade and thus have no point of comparison. But I was very satisfied with it.

I have not used the SS blade, but am very satisfied with the 5/8" woodslicer from Highland Woodworker

that should be 1/2".......................................................^^

I've used a 1/2" SS blade to resaw maple 4" thick, will slice off 1/8" sections easy as can be.

I'm a big woodslicer fan, have one for my other bandsaw and purchased another for the shopsmith. I do have to admit I've not used the shopsmith blade but I was so happy with the woodslicer on the other band saw I went for it again when I got the shopsmith.

Looked at the Highland Woodworker site, but can't find a 5/8" wood slicer. Looks like they only stock 1/2" blades. The next size up is a 3/4" blade. http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/wood ... lades.aspx

Did you get your blade a while back?

I was wondering about that when I read the post. I have a 1/2" for both of my saws and I don't recall seeing a wider blade, it could be that at one time they did have wider blades but it must have been back a while as I've been a user for quite a while now.

Of course it could be that someone needs to check what they have rather then what they remember they have.

When I was younger if I remembered it you could take it to the bank, now you might get arrested for passing a fraudulent check....

Then again it could be that I am just plain wrong.

The bs with that blade is at a 'remote site'.

So let's say I goofed and it is 1/2".:o

The only non-Shopsmith band saw blade in my inventory is a 1/2" Woodslicer from Highland. It is extremely good at what it does - RESAW.

Here's a link to a thread on my experience using the 5/8" SS blade and a 1/2" Wood Slicer.
