Even my neighbors, with their 36" blade firewood cutting/table saw combination tools which generally lack rip fences, blade guards, feather boards, etc. wouldn't be crazy enough to try freehand, table-less ripping!

He's probably a re seller and either didn't get the table or couldn't figure out how to install it in time for the picture.
Looks like a nice machine, though.
