Oh Joy, Ain't this a Great Country
I began the stressful task of preparing my Income Tax Statement this year. It seems as though there are many new income categories but few (if any) new deduction categories this year. Maybe that is just the result of an "attitude" on my part.

Yeah
Still looking for the deduction for time wasted filling out and fooling with and the hassle of AHC, ObamaCare. Just hours and hours of times of time that I never had to fuss with before.dusty wrote:... but few (if any) new deduction categories this year. ....

One of the benefits of being a disabled Veteran. ACA (or Obamacare) are just academic to me.d.rositer wrote:Still looking for the deduction for time wasted filling out and fooling with and the hassle of AHC, ObamaCare. Just hours and hours of times of time that I never had to fuss with before.

But, when I make the trip to the "doctor" it takes most of the day. But, on the way home, with the travel funds the VA allots me, I get to stop off for lunch (or dinner) at http://lennysburger.com/ . Last time I went in, Lenny was at the register. "Steve, want a burger? Sure, Lenny!
Truth be known, I've known Lenny for 6 or 7 years, but that was my first time in his restaurant. Second best hamburger I've ever had. (First, my brother bought a meat grinder, ground his own beef, and cooked it by the reverse sear method. Took over 1/2 hour, but the burgers were to KILL for.)

They are done. I have filed my taxes and don't have to worry about them anymore this year. I have never been done with my taxes this early. It is normally mid-April; just in time to beat the deadline.
Maintaining current records throughout the coarse of the year certainly changed the routine and the results.

Neither have I. I usually take the last paycheck of the year and start filling everything out. I confirm the amounts on my W2 before submitting, but it's usually the same.

Do you use tax filing software to do your taxes. I have been using something like TaxAct for the past 6 years and it only takes about 30 minutes to do my complete return. They even file it for me for a small fee.

I use taxactonline and have for 5 years or so. Each year I complete everything and compare the refund to others (turbotax, HR Block, etc). Every year my refund is highest through taxact, comes into my bank very quickly, and it's free. I may pay for the upgraded return this year ($10 or so) since I own a home and got married last year.

Been using TaxAct for about 10 years. As a federal retiree, no deductions,it's free and they file free as I am below their level of income to charge. Keep all medical expenses in one folder, no mortgages and no other deductions, so it's rather quick and easy. I have never had a problem paying my dues. Normally takes about 2 weeks to have it direct deposited in my credit union.
Just heard on ABC news the other day that some slugs are now breaking into our returns by getting our SSN's and filing. Then when the true citizen files, IRS holds up the return for up to 8 months. I didn't get how to work around these slugs, but sure wish I could find them. Don't need a gun or ball bat. LOL
