Paint removal

I've read that evaporust won't remove paint and I want to take my SS down to bare metal for a bottom up de-rust and repaint. Electrolysis won't remove paint either as far as I know so I guess that leaves abrading it, right? I'm concerned about what kind of surface will be left with a wire wheel, any suggestions or is there just a lot of surface prep to contend with?

Citrustrip is the best thing I have used. It's an orange gel. Apply liberally and wait. The paint simply wipes off most surfaces leaving shiny metal.

After that, lightly sand the surfaces and prime with a "self-etching primer".

Then paint with whatever you choose, a lot of us have used rustoleum hammered spray paint with good results.
