Are there other sources for this T nut? I want to support Shopsmith, I really do, but at six bucks a pop, I am balking ....

Are these SS exclusive, or are they available elsewhere.

Yep! I made some from walnut and t nuts.

And did you make em yerself because you realize that Shopsmith's miter gauge slots are unique unto SS, thus making it unlikely (except for possibly Incra) that another maker/seller would offer the combo for SS?

They were recently on sale buying in quantity, though I don't remember the price. You could call and ask for the sale price?? The worse they would tell you is no. Personally I'd hope that Linda answered, you might get a better chance of yes.

I bought some flat steel bar (7/8 by 1/8) and nuts (3/8 -16 and 1/4 - 20) with a plan to make my own.

Too many other irons in the fire. however in the next two weeks will build some to see if this design is feasible. Was planning on epoxy to hold the nuts but may tack weld. JPG suggested tapping the metal bar rather than just drilling a through hole, so I may try that to give some extra security. Cost not including "old fart" labor, about 70 cents each (that includes shipping of the bars and gas to get the nuts).

I would guess that the wooden ones were even cheaper!

I made them because I could. I considered it a relatively easy thing to do. Yes it required some 'original' thinking. Yes I knew the slot was not typical. Yes I knew what SS gets for them. Also I had these small pieces of walnut that were unlikely to be used otherwise. If I can locate the thrread where I posted pix, I will add a link to it. Mine only have one threaded hole.
