Hi, I live in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I sent Shopsmith a request today.

Here is their rude reply:
We only sell 505640 . If that is not what you need you will need to find someone else to get what you need .

Shopsmith doesn't ship overseas, do they?

And it sounds like the OP wants to buy the wedge, part #521945, not the knives, part #505640. Perhaps Shopsmith doesn't have the wedges in stock? That wouldn't surprise me.

And I bet they'd be unable to supply the part in any but the finished form. It's not like the jointer is in continuous production. They probably have to wait until the next production run before they make any more spare parts.

Adding to the 'confusion', there have been at least two versions of the wedges.

Also providing a means for the customer to drill their own holes has liability problems.

Most likely the reason for a need to drill holes is because he needs the older version and SS only has the current ones 'in production'.

And NO SS does not export AIUI.




Methinks Bill Mayo is the most likely source and he has no qualms exporting!:)



FWIW, I think judicious filing would make smushed wedges usable again as long as they are not cracked etc.. They are a wedge fer crying out loud.

Current version have 5 holes. The older version have 3 holes.

Lammergeir's only option from SS, is part #517363 the cutter head assembly. Then find someone to buy it and send to him.
