Shopsmith Forums

I am new to the Shopsmith, but about 20 years ago I did custom woodworking for about 10 years. Always wanted to get back into woodworking but never really had the space or the money for all the tools. I recently was able to get a Shopsmith with jointer, bandsaw, lathe, disc sander, drum sander, and the dust collector with all accessories and manuals.
After reading the manual and making sure everything is setup correctly, I think this is one of the best tools ever! I'm going to start small but I can't really think of many things that I could not make that we did in that custom shop.

Welcome to the family! Be sure to fill out your user profile and let us know where you're at. Also, we like pictures! Yeah, we know what a Shopsmith looks like, but for some reason we love looking at pictures of each other's machines.

JPG, I think the first thing I want to make is a movable cart that will hold all the accessory that is not being used and do you know if anyone has ever made a electric guitar with a shopsmith?

You can find a lot of stuff searching for "guitar shopsmith" using Google. I find looking at the images I have a better chance of finding someone actually doing something with their Shopsmith.

There are several members at http://tdpri.com that are using shopsmiths to build guitars.

Thanks everyone for the links! I have only had my Shopsmith for about 3 weeks now but the more I "play" with it the more I am "impressed" with it.

I am in the process of designing a tall rolling cabinet to hold all the SPTs and accessories for my 1956 SS. My buddy Rich McConnell has an old model 10 SS and I know he has use it to build mandos, and at least one guitar.

My cabinet will be 6 ft tall, 3 ft. wide, and 18 inches deep. According to my calculations, it will hold everything I need it to.
