Hey ya all,
just picked up my first Shopsmith yesterday for $200. obviously used and not in the best shape, but it does run. I'm gonna have to give it some loving to bring it back to presentable shape. got some rust, paint chipping, stuck wheels, maybe dry bearings, etc.
thank you all ahead of time for any insight on it's usage/capabilities. I've been wanting a Mark V for probably 20+ yrs. Dad has one in his shop, but I never got to use it since he got it after I joined the military. so I am a total newb.

Welcome and congratulations.
1- Clean it up; inside and out…
2- Check condition of all parts in lieu of needed replacements;
3- Turn it on and put a piece of wood in it.
4- Savor the joyous smells, sights and sounds;
5- Do it again; but this time try to make something.
Enjoy!
Oh yeah… Ask lotsa questions. Post photos of your find and restoration efforts.

And I would add
read the top 'stickey' post on the maintenance and Repair forum.
Then when more comfortable with it, go to the second.

What mess?
A 500 it is. SN should tell its age.

Early 80's or late 70's be my guess
Missing a left 'handle.spt clamp' unless it is in de boxes.
Generally decent condition(that rust can be made to disappear).
Another 'journey' begins.

I have a manual but can't find the "left 'handle.spt clamp'". it might be in the bag of goodies but I don't know what I'm looking for to find it.

Do not see a fence though!
The saw guard is another clue.
