Engler videos no longer available ....

Post by rjent »

What is up with the videos that have been removed? This is an example, but there are others. Has this been going on for a while, or are we losing contact with the benefits of being SS owners .... :(

Yes, that one is missing and I do not know why but I sampled a bunch of the others and found nothing else missing.

I have hit a few others that don't play (I don't remember which ones) so I was just wondering. Do you think that it is a copyright issue?

No, I do not suspect a copyright issue. I suspect that Shopsmith has simply chosen not to support some of the sessions. These were all developed at the time time Shopsmith was learning how to produce a website video session.

Some of them did not go so well and they may be the ones that have now been withdrawn. This is just a guess on my part. Let me say again, I only found that one and I checked a very sizable sample set.

The blackboard still works. The jig drawings are still there.

IIRC there was 'technical' problem with the format they were in not being supported any longer by 'something'. At least part of my memory still works!

The videos were hosted with 3rd party video sites. One of those sites stopped hosting videos (and the notice apparently went to an inactive email account). We've re-uploaded the videos from backups, but a few of the videos were missing from backups.

Thank you for the explanation. It is unfortunate, hopefully a copy can be found. Those videos are very informative ..... :)

I think lack of oversight may be more accurate(like monitoring old e-mail address and informing 'business partners' of changes with verification of receipt).

E-mails are a totally inadequate method of communicating that kind of information. One on one works best or registered letter by !gasp! snail mail!

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.

Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.
