I just bought a 2nd 10Er and among the parts was a cover that I don't recognize. I added some pictures and several include a 10ER pulley cover for reference. Can someone help?

A lower pulley guard???

I have never seen one but think they have been mentioned
(might have been something other than a 10ER).

I see nothing resembling that in time relevant catalogs.

So, I think it is not a 10ER part,

That's kind of what I thought. Perhaps a drill press. But I'll just wait and see if one of the others has knowledge.

It looks like a pulley guard and you might have a rarity. You might check to see if the bolt flanges on the guard line up with the bolt slots on the 10ER motor mounting bracket.

I've seen a picture of a lower shopsmith guard somewhere and that look just like it. Very rare. I wish I had one.

I think Rob and Ed have it. However, that is just a guess.

Or, as Quasimodo said, "just a hunch.":D

I tried out the "lower guard". It fits perfectly to the motor mount bracket. I guess I really lucked out. For a hundred I got a decent 10ER with a good variable speed unit, a jig saw (will need a lot of TLC), the joiner/sander table insert along with a joiner head and a front of table miter extension. Oh, yeah the steel bench ends with casters, and hold on to your hats, the table top is two finished S4S 8/4 oak planks.
I'll post some pictures of the guard tonight when I get a chance. I mounted the lower guard to my other 10ER as I tore the new one down completely for an overhaul.

Great to hear! I was hoping you might have gotten lucky. I have never seen the lower pulley guard nor the lower saw guard in the flesh. Congratulations.

Does it mount with different screws etc. than the motor(is there room to do that on the motor plate slots?)?
