Help with ratchet crimp tool for electric connectors

Post by cincinnati »

need to invest in a ratcheting crimp tool.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference in the Klien vs Greenlee? (I know the die is different in the examples linked to) Just seems to be a big price difference and I am not familiar with hand tools for electric work.
I would have expected the Klien to be much more expensive. What am I over looking and any buying advice.

Cincinnati, what are trying to do?

I was an aircraft electrician in the Army for 3 years, and after that I built MD-11s for McDonnell Douglas. I never used a ratcheting crimp tool.

Like I said, what are you trying to do?

steve
10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.

Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Two different tools Greenelee is for installing insulated terminals to single wire. Like putting a split slide on terminal on to a wire that you then tighten down with a screw.

The Klien puts coaxial connectors on coaxial cable. Coaxial connectors are the twist connectors you screw onto the terminal like from wall connector to the cable box or TV.

What are you trying to do?
