headstock repair

Post by hyRAMelu »

Does anyone here on the SS WW Forum know of anybody doing SS headstock repairs within or near the Kansas City area?

An easy one day drive will put you on the loading dock of the factory from whence that headstock came. I'd contact Shopsmith, in Dayton Ohio if I wasn't up to doing the work myself.

What seems to be your major problem. Maybe we can resolve it right here on the forum. About all we can't do is oil it, clean, wax it and align it.

The headstock in need of repair belongs to an elderly friend who does not do the Internet. He has used his MarkV quite regularly over the years and takes fairly good care of it. The headstock motor seems to run fine but now the speed control adjustment is no longer working. I suspect the worm drive mechanism is in need of replacement due to normal wear. Neither he or I are particularly mechanically inclined. Therefore hoping to find SS help near the Kansas City area.
