I tried resawing and was thrilled with the ease with which it worked. I haven't tried veneer thicknesses yet but following the tuning advice on this forum, great bearings from Bill Mayo and cool blocks all made for one very smooth and clean cutting saw.
However, I noticed the first pieces had faces that were not parallel. I finally realized the table itself is not actually flat and planar. The table is slightly bent so that the outer left corner (the one farthest from the drive shaft) is perhaps 1/16 or a bit more below the plane of the majority of the table. It seems bent at the slot that the blade slips through when replacing the blade and perhaps a tiny bit bent at the miter gauge slots as well.
When I clamp a board across the top the table does flex back almost flat. I used a 3/4" thick by 2" tall scrap of hard maple - to give a sense of how hard it is to flex the table, not terribly.
I picture a few options:
Get a new table [Bill? Anyone?]
Drill/tap the edge of the table and bolting something very rigid onto the table to flex it back - have to be able to remove it to swap blades
Add a rather thin, quite flat and shimmed surface on top. Doesn't seem any easier and will lose at least some clearace.
Jump up and down on it and try and bend it back (well, maybe not)
Just jump up and down on it and yell - fixes the frustration part temporarily, at least.

Nope, don't have it but it looks easy enough to make. I was hoping it was something like that! And I guess if it doesn't want to sit straight with that I can make one out of angle iron for stiffness that extends the length of the side of the table. It should only need to screw on in those two holes.
