Speed Control Question

My Mark V is one of the earlier Mark V's. The unit came to me from my brother who thought I would enjoy it. I'm still anticipating the enjoyment as the machine has not worked. It basically looked great but had almost everything wrong with the headstock that could happen. My brother thought it needed a new belt! After almost giving up on my Mark V, I finally got a new speed control unit after realizing that my old one was actually bent. The new unit came with a white nylon clip-like thing that I imagine would offset the height of the spring. I can't find this nylon thing anywhere in the diagrams and wonder where it is supposed to go? Also, I have watched the sawdust sessions video on the speed dial several times and Drew leaves out some very important details. I'd like to know at what position the Quadrant gear should be on the arm when you first put it together. Thanks in advance for any hints.

More than likely the clip that holds the wiring away from the quadrant etc.

Which spring?

Crank until the quadrant stops against the housing(actually the 'high speed stop').

What 'details' are needed? Sure it was not Nick? Which sawdust session?
