slow posts

Post by wa2crk »

It may be my imagination but it seems that the total number of posts has fallen off recently or a lot of folks don't like the new format. I will chalk it up to the Holyday Season for now.

I agree. Plus it seems like a majority of recent posts are related to the forum update.

Agree! Also guys like me that really want to post, but have had understanding issues with the new format and problems using what we think we learned.

You seem to be doing as well as anyone with the new format.

I think there are a number of things at work causing the apparent slow down. New format. Holidays. Cold weather (keeps some out of the shop).

I do not believe that the number of viewers is significantly less than it has always been. There may, however, be a perception to the contrary because the "WHO IS ONLINE" list is a lot shorter. Names are dropped from this list almost immediately after a viewing member either logs off or turns his/her computer off. That was not always the case with the previous software.

I often viewed the site from one of my daughters computers and found my name listed as being online when "Dusty" was not. That does not happen with the current software.

I do notice a lot of unnecessary blank space in some posts. Maybe that is slowing things down.

I am here, if that makes any difference .... :D

I find the new system both good and bad. I am just about to finish a new coffee table (my first table), I hope to post pictures next week.

In any event, the number of posts is less recently.

I've not been posting as much, some of it due to this new format which I don't love yet. A couple of things are bugging me, first I have a lot of "white" space while in full screen mode. And second the signature portion is a distraction to me. I'm trying to use the shopsmith version so it is what it is.

I don't know that. How many posts have there been in a typical day since the software change? How Many yesterday? How many times have I posted since December 15?

I don't know. I can't find the metric.

CLUES: Maybe it is tucked away in the "Advanced Search" function OR in "View New Posts"
