Mineral Oil
I am going to make a cutting broad. I want to use Mineral Oil, is there different types, and where is a good place to get it?

A cutting Whaaaat?
I love typos.
Seriously though, hospital grade mineral is OK and can be obtained at most drug stores. Also the commercially available salad bowl finishes are OK but pricey when compared to the mineral oil. Remember Food grade or hospital grade mineral oil.

FWIW: I use Howard's Cutting Board Conditioner with good results on my Broads.
Re: Mineral Oil
Is hospital grade mineral used for laxative? That's all I can find at Walgreen.

Re: Mineral Oil
I used the Walgreen mineral oil on some wood utensils I made. No "problems" with it.

I used SS Preserve Non-Toxic Oil http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/item ... tem=521246 on some building blocks I made for my grandson.

Re: Mineral Oil
What we have at home is "Prelude" Butcher Block Oil (with pure food-safe mineral oil). It was recommended to us and I've been happy with it.
Sorry I don't recall where we got it or how much it costs and the wife is making us lunch so..........

Re: Mineral Oil
Make the mineral oil does NOT have a laxative added to it. Mineral oil should be hospital or food grade for use on wooden ware.

Re: Mineral Oil
Hospital/food grade mineral oil IS a laxative all by itself IF it is consumed in a sufficient dosage (1-3 tablespoons/day). You are unlikely to get that dosage from a salad bowl that has had mineral oil applied to it and then wiped off.
