Is there a search engine available that will return nothing, I mean nothing, if it has nothing that you are searching for. Do they all pretend to know more about what I want than I do.

I have been searching for a specific item, by part number and/or description, and I get returns but all of them are for something other than what I searched for.

Are you referring to this site or search engines in general. If I search for something but not on this site I get an answer, but the answer directs me to another search engine like "wow.com" or some other.
Most search engines take your input and tries to match words.
If your search term does not match exactly the terms used by the company then the search will match any word that you used for your search.
Kind of like covering all bases.

I have been searching outside of this site.

I have searched for several combinations of the string "Shopsmith Adjustable Dado Blade AK-0590".

I have been using this only as a learning situation. The dado blade is just an "item to search for" that I know for certain exists. It seems to me that I must not be using the search engines properly or one of them would return something. I have gotten some returns that send me back to the Shopsmith sites (catalog or here) but there must be others.

Dusty, sometimes putting pertinent words in quotes (" ") will return better performance. Using something like "AK-0590" + "shopsmith" + "dado" will return better results than just typing in AK-0590 shopsmith dado.

Now, if the item you are looking for is rare, the search engines will not have a lot of pertinent info on the item and return a "best guess" result which can be amusing at times.

Take one of your electronic devices (TV, Stereo, etc) take the model number and do a search for it. It will come back with surprisingly accurate, returns, however I searched for your wobble blade and it didn't return much.

Yes, I have had some of those amusing and sometimes scary returns. Sometimes returns that I don't even want on my computer. There are words that I will not even think about putting in a search. Words like taliban, etc, etc. quotes or no quotes, not ever.

I am curious, BTW, about who made that adjustable dado for Shopsmith. Just like I am curious about who makes the blades that they are now selling. When Amana Blades went away, who replaced them? Just curious. Sorta like to know what I am buying, even when I am buying from Shopsmith.

I believe that the original stacked dado was by Vermont American.

Vermont American is a very likely candidate, if not for mine then for Charlese and maybe for both. It appears from the postings that we both acquired our blades in same general time frame.
