Lost A Carbide Tooth Off Shopsmith Blade

I have a Shopsmith carbide combination blade that came from the original owner which makes it a 2001 blade. Although I keep it clean, I have never sharpened it and it has always given me a good cut.

The last few times, I noticed it was not up to snuff. I went to clean it today and noticed that one of the carbide teeth is almost completely sheared off (good reason to make a regular practice of using the upper guard and a full face shield). I did not even notice this until I was brushing the teeth individually with a nylon brush.

I assume the blade is probably beyond economical repair although if you think otherwise, please let me know.

Before I order another blade, I am trying to decide whether to go back to Shopsmith to order my next blade or to get another brand (Forrest will drill their blades to 1 1/4 bore so they fit on the Shopsmith arbor I have).

Has anyone else lost a tooth off a Shopsmith blade?

It may be worth a call to CS at SS. They guaranty their bandsaw blades against breaking at the weld, asking them what the guaranty is on carbide teeth may be worth the effort.

Thanks,Dusty. I didn't realize Forrest replaced teeth on other manufacturer's blade. I have a couple of follow up questions.

1. Was it cost effective? In other words, by the time you paid to ship to/from Forrest and paid for the tooth to be replaced (and I assume you had the whole blade sharpened), was it less than buying a new Shopsmith blade?

2. Has the blade performed up to snuff since returning it to service?

In all of my years of using saw blades I have had only two blades loose tips. They were both from shopsmith. Both went in to the trash bin. I believe this was back in the late 1980's. I remember another discussion that I posted this information and I'll see if I can find it.

Looks like the discussion was about 5/8" arbors. I'm still a fan of them btw.
