SO what is everyone up to?

Post by kablerj »

What's everyone working on?

I've be working on a 6'w, 40"h, 24"d storage unit for the shop. It's nearing assembly. I applied forest green formica to MDF for the top on Wednesday. I was hoping to finish by end of day Friday, but weather has prevented me from getting back to the shop. I am hoping to get there tomorrow.

Howdy,

Looks like fun.

I am putting the final touches on a total refurb of a workbench I built in 1976. It toured the planet, while I was in the service and served as a base for rebuilding many Volkswagen engines. Wonderful memories are attached to this bench, so I tried to reuse all the lumber and design of the original. The 2.0 version has beefy legs for working with planes and chisels. The top is laminated to a hardwood door. The workbench top edges are oak while the rest of the top is fir.
The old vise is now on the end as a tail vise, and a new vise on the front. I am excited that it is so very close to being finished, so I can use it to build my next project, a Stickley plant stand.

Here are a few photos of the project.

:) The F works fine. I think that was just my subconscious expressing it's opinion of this keyboard.

I've been adding a Veratis Twin Screw vise to the shop. Still in progress.
