I have a Craftsman belt sander that I purchased about 30 years ago for a project and the only time it's been used since was to sand the top of my work bench a few years ago. I decided to make a platform to mount it on it's side and operate it with a foot switch. I believe it will be useful for whatever rather than occupy space on a shelve in a cabinet.

Re: Belt sander
I like that! How did you mount the sander to the jig?

On the side of the sander is a belt guard held on by 2 machine screws. I simply replaced them with longer screws and mounted to 3/4" oak board.
I can remove the sander and take additional pictures if you would like?

That's OK, I think I understand. Thanks.
