This was Grandpa's and we have no need for it. Is there any value to it or is it scrap metal? It's located in Central NE and would be willing to work with anyone who may want it.

It is a 10 or 10-E model shopsmith.

Recommend you put it on e-bay of Craigs list.

You can also use the search function of this forum to find many references to 10-Es and how they sold. Some higher priced than others. Do you have any attachments that may be laying around? Seems the more extra parts = more $.

It is a 10ER, but there are a few things 'missing'. A drill chuck, sanding disk, lathe centers and a lathe tool rest come to mind.

Tis pretty much a buyers market.

Please let it go to someone who will restore/use it. It definitely is not scrap, but finding a new home may take a while.

Craigslist is really the only practical marketplace for an entire machine. Transportation costs make it impractical to sell them on eBay (except as "local pick-up only), unless you "part it out". But that requires a fair amount of work, and knowledge of the machine -- probably not worth it to you.

The fair market value for that machine in my area (Central Ohio) is about $100. Much higher than that, and they sit on Craigslist for a long time. But if you just want it out of your way, then list it cheap or free, and let the buyer worry about transporting it. They might restore it, or they might part it out on eBay. If it has sentimental value to you, you will need to determine the buyers intentions before selling it.

All that said, they are great old machines. I have two myself, still waiting until I have time to restore them. The market value is so low only because supply exceeds demand.

I sure wish you lived closer to me, I would buy it from you in a heartbeat. I've been watching for one to come up for sale cheap enough so I can completely restore it back to it's original condition and use it alongside my two Mark V's.
