Stuck Fan Sheeve

Hoping you guys can help me with an issue I'm having.

As expected, everything went smoothly until I got to the fan sheeve. Thanks to Bill Mayo's screwdriver tip I've been able to get the sheeve to move, but due to a burr on the long key I'm only able to get the sheeve to move along with the key. That means I can slide it about an inch or inch and a half before it won't move further.

I've try pulling on the key with a pliers now that I've gotten the sheeve to move the keyway no longer has any play. I'm trying not to destroy the sheve l but how can I remove the burr without damaging the set screw threads? Thanks.

Turns out that I went back out and got it to move a little bit more. Was able to use a punch and knock the long key loose. I probably could reuse the key, but I'll probably be ordering a new one.

Next stop, new bearings for the motor.

Anyone know what bearings should be used on the Emerson motor from 1987?

The source I found says 17mm ID x 40mm OD x 12 mm W for the sleeve side and either the same for the other end or.625" ID x 40mm ID x 12mm W. I'm not sure if this is correct?

Also, if anyone could recommend a place where I would find decent bearings as I've seen anywhere from a few dollars to $15 dollars and I'm not exactly sure what brands are good and what one should be looking for in bearings selection, thanks.

I believe that one of each is used. JPG will probably jump and correct me if I am wrong. I do know that one of the motors uses two different bearings and IIRC the Emerson is the one.

The bearing number is 6203 and is a motor grade bearing. There is a sub designation for the 6203 bearing with the .625 bore

Nothing needs 'correcting'!

17 x 40 x 12 and 0.625" x 40 x 12

6203-2rs and 6203-2rs-10

VXB works fer me.

I prefer the rubber sealed bearings.

IIRC, the 5/8" bearing is on the back end.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. Thanks for the model numbers too, I wasn't sure exactly which ones to choose, but I figured enough to know the ceramic ones were too expensive and I shouldn't chose the cheapest ones either.

I picked up my bearings today and while there were several choices with the 17mm ID bearings, the 5/8" ID bearing seems to have one choice with the cheapest option. I checked VXB too and they only have one option available. The bearing does look the same as the one that came out and it was the 17mm that had failed anyways.

BTW, I found out my local bearing house is owned by BDI, the maker of the Zoom Oil Spout that Bill Mayo raves about so I bought a couple for my machine. The package says they've sold over 60 million bottles, I guess Bill has to be good for a few of those.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to get them on without a press, but I did see the notes about heating them up as needed and driving them on with the inner race only. Wish me good luck.
