Speed dial sticks

I just bought a used 510 and also attended a demo at Lowes. My problem is that when I turn the speed dial to adjust the speed, it sticks and doesn't adjust the speed smoothly. The demo guy suggested a rebuild kit, but I don't remember what kit or part number he said it was. Anyone help?? Thanks. Dave

This is a new one for me. I don't know of any kit to rebuild anything on the Shopsmith. The parts, however, are available from Shopsmith.

Beeg will be here shortly to tell you to lube it completely. I am trying to beat him to the punch!!
So lube the shafts that the moveable sheaves ride along. Liberal lubing MAY flush out the crud ( technical term) that formed over a few years.
As Dusty said no real rebuilding kit available but parts are. You have to pay for the parts but come here for info and guidance which is free.
Check the owner's manual if you have it for the lubrication instructions, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the LUBE info. I might have heard him wrong when he said how to fix it. He might have said some replacement part and I took it as a rebuild item. I'll see if the manual I have covers that. (instruction manual) I'm going to check out the links you posted and the owners manual listing also. Dave
