Stop Plunger #152 adjustment.

Yesterday I was trying to adjust the stop plunger so that the blade to table was 90°. With the table in it's normal position, I tried to FIND the plunger, get the screwdriver tip in the slot to adjust it. Of course the tip slips out before ya can turn it. After numerous attempts and jumping up and down, down and up and CUSSING it. I flipped the table to the drill press position, adjusted said plunger, checked to see where the blade position to table was. Repeat as necessary, till it was at 90°.
Anybody have a better way, than having to keep raising and lowering the table, switching from horizontal to vertical?

I use a Wixey with the table in the tilted position. Set the table for the desired tilt angle as indicated on the Wixey and lock it. Now adjust the stop plungers just until you can feel them contact the table..

B4 wixey, used a square. Moved table. Locked table. Adjusted stop screw.
Unlocked table. Moved table to stop. Checked with square. Repeated as required.
A thick blade(fits snug in the slot) helps.
Fortunately not often needed.
Guess the 5 cut method would work here as well(smaller workpiece).

So Bill and Dusty. You both set the angle of the table to the floor?

I think Dusty left out a step.(blade angle check).
Wonder when/where Bill zeroes the Wixey?
Accurate to +- 0.2 degrees. Wonder how accurate square and eyeball are?
Enough nit-picking. The important thing is the 90 degree difference however it was obtained.

Like Bill, I too use the Wixey to set 90 deg table-to-blade.
I zero on the blade and adjust the table to 90 deg.
But when the Wixey is on the blade for the zero, I suggest using a square behind the Wixey to be sure it is at 90 deg to the table. Otherwise, your zero can be off as much as .2 deg to begin with.
I have (and seem to recall that Dusty has) discovered that the hard way.

I set the Wixey to 0.0 on the table and then check for 90,0 on the blade. Does not matter if the floor is level or not just that the table and blade are 90.0 to each other. Set the Wixey on the table and not the insert.

I guess that what really counts is that when you are finally done the table is at the angle, with respect to the blade, that you what your cut to be.

The engineer square may be more accurate than the Wixey when setting the table at 90 degrees to the blade (or for setting the table when using the conical disc sander), but for other angles, I'll take the Wixey over the vernier on the table.
