I am playing around with my recent modification to the Mark V. I decided, for reasons of convenience, that I wanted to have an extra Base Arm Pin (518378) available to me.It was hard to locate but I finally found it in the online catalog listed for $7.89.

When I tried to order on line, the system tried to do a part number change so I decided to call. I was fearful that they might be trying to send me a part for the double tilt. Well, this part might work as well for the double tilt but the pin Shopsmith is sending me is 522816 and it lists for $20.35.

Surprises like this will prevent me from buying new.

$8.00 plus shipping to be added onto that.

I hear you and feel your pain, but it is the Mother Ship, and we need her!!! Dusty I can pick up a greenie here in WI for 200$+, with some SPTs, it is a bargain, to make it into a dedicated piece of wood working machinery and a variable speed besides.

Bet it has two grooves for c-clips rather than a hole for a tension pin.

3/4" cr barstock would work.

For that $ you can get a whole base casting on E-bay(sometimes) !

Forget the numbers on the wall, Autumn has not arrived here yet. Besides color does not show up at night, only snow does!

You are probably correct. What I fear is that Shopsmith may concentrate their support effort (and money) on the PowerPro and leave the rest of us to fend for ourselves.

I just cancelled my order with Shopsmith. BTW - they do not issue a confirmation # for cancellations but the online order status has ALREADY been changed.

I'll use a wooden dowel to do what I wanted the pin for. Thanks, you have made this frugal old man happy.

Sadly they have been concentrating on 'current' production for quite some time. I have attempted obtaining Mark 5/V parts that have been redesigned, and no go! Case it point, the stop pin od in the miter gauge has been reduced. The older, larger one is N/A. So if you have an older one, do not drop it and bend that pin!

Also, if a part is part of an assembly procured as a complete assembly, they may not have a part readily available.

Part of lean operating which has allowed them to continue. Be thankful for that!!!
