Just picked up my mark VII. Really excited to put it to use.

It runs in both directions, but the previous owner said that it slips into higher speeds. Is this a control can issue or a belt tension issue? I haven't investigated yet.

What other things should I check for before working this machine out?

2 pieces, three rivets each - about 30+ ". Only has to go till the carriage and carrier bump against the far end.

no clue.

Maybe, could judge better if it was visible(clean that crud off

).

Drifting towards higher speed may be a motor belt too narrow(< 1/2"), or the dial detents letting it slip.

doh! I made that original post on my phone, didn't realize the cam had a few years worth of stubble stuck to it. I updated better pics in the original post just to keep everything clean. Didn't put a caliper on the drive belt to get the thickness, but it did feel a little thin when I took the belt cover off. THis came with a spare belt, so I'll be replacing that.

The little red knob engages/disengages the spur gear to the track to allow sliding the headstock without 'cranking'.

Notch on cam caused by ??? Possibly due to revolving too far towards fast and rubbing the control sheave hub.

Spare 'red' cam. Lucky you. Source?????

Spare motor belt. Ditto!!! IFF oem.

The rack gear looks very good(that part exposed in the pix).

Other than the notch, the cam also looks very good.

I think you got a good'un!

red cam was printed on my 3d Printer with high impact ABS.

Once I have the design tweaked, I'll make the files available for any that want em... Unless, of course, that would be a violation of the board's rules.

I'm glad to hear it. I'm going to start cleaning it up tonight and can't wait to use it.

I have to tweek my design slightly, but it looks like a viable part.

The usual way. Drive it out with a pin punch. Best done detached from everything else. As I recall it is only accessible from one end.
