I have acquired several File shape items that have a SS stock # 505768-505772. These files are about three inches long. Each item has a name in the middle of the File-Shape description. Could someone tell me their purpose. Please and thanks in advance. I tried a search in the forums and the SS website came up with zilch.

Believe those files fit the defunct Magna/Shopsmith jig saw (C-shaped). Wish I had a set.

They do come up on eBay from time to time. Pretty rare to see a complete set though. I finally got them all and a few extras. They can also be a bit pricey sometimes.

They also work in the jigsaw made for the 10ER.

Actually I think they were first sold for the 10ER jig saw. I will have to look at the catalogs I have.

You are correct, they were originally sold as an accessory for the 10ERs

You can still buy them, just not Shopsmith-branded. The generic name for them is "parallel machine file". Google that, and you'll find some vendors. Then you have to sift through those to find the little 3-1/2" files with 1/8" shafts. I think the 1/4" shafts will work also. I did that a while back, and found some NOS files for sale pretty cheap. But that source has dried up, and new ones appear to run about $12 - $14 each.
