Calibrating Speed Dial

Recently acquired a used, neglected Mark V. The speed control was so hung up I was unable to turn it all the way to high speed before removing the assembly to clean it. What is the best way to ensure that the belt and pulleys are at high speed so that when I put the assembly back on I can make sure the dial is oriented correctly?

The procedure for setting up the speed dial is in the Shopsmith manuals that come with the tool. If you didn't get one, you can download a copy from Shopsmith. It should be on the site.

Yes, I have the manual, but in order to ensure the dial is reading the correct speed, you need to index it by turning it all the way to high before removing the speed control assembly and quadrant. I was unable to do this because the quadrant rack was so gummed up. Now I do not have an accurate way of knowing what speed the machine is at. Is there a way to manually get the belt and pulleys where they should be for high speed so that when I put the speed control assembly back in, I can ensure that the quadrant and the pulleys are in the correct corresponding positions?
