Christmas Projects 2015
Post pictures of your Christmas projects here.
I'll kick it off with my first finished project This is a Yarn Buddy, about 5" across and 7" tall. there is a small lazy susan bearing between the two disks.
It used by knitters, the ball of yarn is placed over the spike and unwinds as it is used.

I even did a few things but trying to keep track of the count was not so easy for me, mind kept wondered off somewhere.... what was I talking about again?

Re: Christmas Projects 2015
If you have been reading some of my threads/post that I talk about my mom, and being her care giver. She is a knitter, guys, at 95+ you would not want to finger wrestler her!! I am up at home in A town, WI, doing a 5 day rest bit, anyway, now I know what to whip up in the shop for her, when I first say the pic I thought a womans best friend, or a paper towel holder. Gotta get the lathe a turning!!!

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: Christmas Projects 2015
Finished a belated present for my daughter.
She requested that I make her a pair of Sock Blockers.
They are used to form wet newly knitted socks to the proper shape and size.

Re: Christmas Projects 2015
Now mom is 95 going on 96 in May, and knits, and knits and knits some more, just finished up another pair of socks, no sock blockers for her, cause she knows how to knit them, just like a machine made sock is formed with the heal angle!!!! Thats my mom!!!!
Nice job on the wood project. Shoulda gave us a "'guess what"? First.
OBTW moms grandson turned her your yarn spool for Christmas for her, thanks.

Re: Christmas Projects 2015
Although I have posted these on the forum in other threads, I will add them to the Christmas Project list.
Ornaments for my god children (Made of Oak).
Puzzle boxes for my mother, mother-in-law, and 2 grandmothers (each with ornaments inside). (Made of Walnut and Cherry)
And, crates used as wrapping paper for various gifts. One 2x4 make 3 crates and enough shavings from a hand plane to provide packing material.

My daughter just finished her first sock, she has been knitting for about a year now (and yes it does have a formed heel).
Just got back from a visit with her, here is a pic with the sock on the blocker.

Re: Christmas Projects 2015
Ron, my presumptuous mistake, looks like moms socks, I thought they were more like a tube and then shrunk on your project to form them.

Re: Christmas Projects 2015
When I searched for this thread I expected to find a few pages full of projects.
Here are mine:
The big one was a rocking horse. The fist one I ever built. Its made from a single SYP 2x12 and finished with shellac.
And these Hot Rods were the first time I ever made anything from MDF.

Nice projects! How did you apply the shellac? Spray, brush or pad?
