Well folks...

I have strayed away from the fray with dismay. I decided that my smithy needed to be strictly a SPT. I went to Rockler and bought a Nova Comet II Midi Lathe. It also has a Nova Comet II G3 reversible chuck. I then added a bed extension. Grand total out the door will be $710. I just never felt comfortable behind a 38 year old peice of equipment, with a spining projectile, hitting speeds of over 1k rpm's.

Looks good. I hope you are really pleased with it. But, be careful. You still have spinning projectiles and at 4000rpm no less..

Agreed, I don't only use my shopsmith, I have other tools that could be done on the shopsmith. I still would buy a sawstop table saw if I had the cash, not because I dislike shopsmith, but because of other factors.
I do want to see pictures of the Shiney new tool though.

Unfortunately, I have not done much in my shop, for at least a few months. Our temps, are such a 'roller coaster' events and since my body is much like a barometric pressure gauge, I often ache so, I must wait until our weather even outs.
I have yet to get this lathe due to it is still on reserve.
Furthermore, I have finally secured an out of the city lifestyle and now all I need to do is, to located a camper/rv/mh where I can take up residence in.
Yes, I plan to LIVE in a camper, on leased land and in turn, I will be that said property, care taker (un paid, labor)
My interest in woodworking has not ceased. One day. I will move into a new space and try to pick up the pieces, where I left off, during the warmer months of 2016.

I hope you are in the deep south as trying to stay in an RV @ below freezing is a real challenge trying to keep water to it and drain holding tanks, along with virtually no insulation make them hard and expensive to heat.
