The Ten Minute Bowl

Post by tomsalwasser »

This guy is good. This would be a ten hour bowl if I was doing the turning and it probably would be an epic fail! But building skills is a process and I'm going to enjoy the journey. Do you folks power sand your bowls while on the lathe?

Well he can certainly turn circles around me (bowls too).

I don't have the necessary parts to do power sanding but I would like to. I think I'd also want/need to control the dust much better then he did.

Thanks for sharing the fun video!

Amazing!!!

I just started in bowl turning a little while back. I do have and have done power sanding while on the lathe however, The dust is overwhelming.

I'm looking into building a horizontal "down draft" type filtration box which will be positioned along side the lathe to try and capture as much dust as possible.

It's hard to beat sanding while mounted... It's super fast and very consistent.
